A New Year: A Message from the President

Dear Friends,

On behalf of the NPCC team, I'd like to wish you a happy New Year and take a moment to reflect on where we've been and where we're going.

Nonprofits were at the center of many policy and societal debates in 2017, whether we were the front page story or not.

New York, NY, December 4, 2017 – The Nonprofit Coordinating Committee of New York (NPCC) held its 11th Annual New York Community Trust Nonprofit Excellence Awards Best Practices Workshop & Awards Presentation on Friday, December 1 to recognize the exceptional management practices of three winning organizations.

Meet the 2017 Nonprofit Excellence Awards Selection Committee

On December 1st, three nonprofits from among 10 semifinalists will find out which prize - Gold, Silver or Bronze - they've won in the 2017 New York Community Trust Nonprofit Excellence Awards. The program's expert 30-member Selection Committee is responsible for making the decision and, before that, for choosing the semifinalists and finalists from this year's pool of 45 applicant organizations.

The Nonprofit Coordinating Committee of New York (NPCC) conducted the 2017 Salary Survey earlier this year in order to collect information on nonprofit compensation structures. Salary information requested was for current base annual salaries (not including benefits, cash bonuses, etc.

Ten nonprofit groups from across the city have been chosen as semifinalists for The New York Community Trust Nonprofit Excellence Awards Program, making them eligible for $60,000 in cash prizes and scholarships to Columbia Business School programs.

TAKE ACTION! Nonprofit Nonpartisanship Under Attack in Congress

As we noted in our February e-Newsletter, the US House of Representatives and US Senate have introduced legislation to repeal the ban on partisan activity by 501(c)(3) nonprofits. This legislation would, in effect, allow 501(c)(3) nonprofits to become political organizations, which would turn nonprofits into political operatives.

Lawyers Alliance, NPCC File Suit Objecting to New State Donor Disclosure Law

On Monday March 6, 2017 Lawyers Alliance for New York and the Nonprofit Coordinating Committee (NPCC) filed a lawsuit against the New York State Attorney General’s office challenging a law that unnecessarily discourages contributions to nonprofit organizations.
