Programs Coordinator Devon Stein spoke with ArtTable, a member organization of Nonprofit New York. We will continue to highlight the work of our members because we believe when your nonprofit is stronger, all of us are stronger.

Tell me about the organization and what you do.
ArtTable is the foremost professional organization dedicated to advancing the leadership of women in the visual arts. Through our membership network and community initiatives, we expand professional opportunities for women from diverse backgrounds and at all stages of their careers, supporting and fostering a stronger future for all women in the arts.

Where do you see your organization in the next five years or ten years?
Over the next decade, we hope to continue growth in our community impact initiatives which provide ongoing educational and public programming, mentorship, and professional development opportunities that our central to our mission as a non-profit organization. More specifically, we hope to continue expanding our fellowship program which began in 2000 with only 5 fellows and grew to host 16 fellows in 2021. We also host an annual Career Development Roundtable which offers emerging leaders in arts administration, art business, museum studies, art history, curatorial studies, and arts internships an experience to meet with professional women in the visual arts to discuss career opportunities. This program is currently held in Washington DC, Los Angeles, and New York but we hope to eventually include greater geographic diversity and provide access to this programs in other cities as well.

How has partnering with Nonprofit New York helped you succeed?
Nonprofit New York has provided many valuable resources from online classes to community engagement. We are a small team which means we all have to wear many hats in our roles at ArtTable. Having Nonprofit New York is like having a whole other person in the office that can help us learn and evolve as an organization.

What are you currently working on that you want us to mention to our membership?
Applications for Host Institutions are now open for the 2022 Fellowship Program. Organizations can include nonprofit and for-profit entities involved in the visual arts, including but not limited to museums, art centers, galleries, foundations, artists residencies, publishing companies, artists’ estates, and sculpture parks.
