UBIT and Commuter Benefits Forum

[img src=”/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/POLICY-FORUM-FLYER.jpg” class=”aligncenter”]

Join NPCC for the first FREE policy forum about Unrelated Business Income Tax (UBIT) on commuter benefits, including NYC Metrocards or employee parking on Tuesday, Nov. 27 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am at NPCC. Learn more about the overall impact on the sector during a panel discussion, and get your questions answered.

As a result of the new federal tax law, nonprofit employers must now pay Unrelated Business Income Tax (UBIT) on commuter benefits, including NYC Metrocards or employee parking. Because of your advocacy, the New York legislature recently passed S8831 and A11051 to decouple the federal and state tax law to eliminate the New York State tax, though the bill has not yet been signed. Join us for a panel discussion which will provide an overview on the law, the overall impact on the sector, including what it means for your organization, and how advocacy efforts changed the landscape.

Presented by Laura Abel, Senior Policy Counsel, Lawyers Alliance for New York; Jonas J.N. Shaende, PhD, Chief Economist, Fiscal Policy Institute; and Sharon Stapel, President, Nonprofit Coordinating Committee of New York

NPCC forums are FREE to attend for members and non-members. Questions? Contact Programs Coordinator Alexa Salame at [email protected] or 646-893-2611.
