It takes more than passion to achieve your mission – it takes strong management. NPCC is excited to announce the 2016 New York Community Trust Nonprofit Excellence Awards, produced by NPCC in collaboration with The Trust and Philanthropy New York, and sponsored by WNYC. Click here to apply.

Now in its tenth year, the Nonprofit Excellence Awards program teaches, recognizes, and encourages outstanding management practices among the New York City area’s large and diverse nonprofit community. More than a chance for prize money, the Awards process is a unique opportunity for nonprofits to improve their management practices. Organizations that go through this process engage in 360-degree review of their management strategies in Eight Key Areas of Nonprofit Excellence.

The Awards competition consists of a readiness assessment and a three-stage selection process that includes a written part one application, a written part two application for ten semifinalists, and in-person meetings for six finalists. Three winning organizations will be honored at a special Awards Presentation in November 2016, and will receive a total of $60,000 in cash awards, as well as tuition scholarships for the Programs in Social Enterprise in Executive Education at Columbia Business School. Oh, and bragging rights!

All applicants will be encouraged to request feedback on their application and their management practices. The feedback will be based on comments and scoring from our expert Selection Committee.

The application deadline is 5:00 pm on Friday, May 20, 2016.

The Awards competition is open to any operating 501(c)(3) nonprofits in the New York City area, regardless of mission, age, or budget size. The New York City area is defined as: Brooklyn, the Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island, Suffolk, Nassau, and Westchester.

If your organization is considering applying, join us at one of our upcoming Application Clinics to learn more about this year’s improved application and selection processes.
