Meg Barnette | President & CEO

Meg Barnette joined the Nonprofit New York team in May 2020 as President & CEO. Meg’s entire career has involved work with nonprofit organizations. Before joining Nonprofit New York, Meg spent over nine years at Planned Parenthood in New York City, serving in roles ranging from Vice President of Strategic Initiatives to Chief Strategy Officer and General Counsel. Meg has also served as the Chief Operating Officer at the Brennan Center for Justice, a founding staff member of the Community Development Venture Capital Alliance, and a Skadden Fellow at the Lawyers Alliance for New York. Meg is a graduate of NYU School of Law, where she was a Root Tilden Scholar, and the University of Chicago. She currently serves as Board member and Treasurer of Women for Afghan Women.


Jennifer Dodd | Vice President of Finance and Operations

Jennifer Dodd | Vice President of Finance and Operations

Jennifer Dodd joined Nonprofit New York in June 2021 as the Vice President of Finance and Operations.  She was previously the Director of Finance and Operations for the International Coalition of Sites of Conscience.  Her nonprofit background has included supporting underserved health care patients as a health educator, coordinating funding for community programs and research as a grant administrator, and advising boards on capacity building and strategic management as part of senior management teams. Jennifer holds an M.B.A. and B.S. from the Pennsylvania State University.


Chai Jindasurat | Vice President, Policy

Chai Jindasurat | Vice President, Policy

Chai Jindasurat joined Nonprofit New York in March 2019 as Policy Director. Prior to joining Nonprofit New York, Chai served as a Senior Policy Analyst in the Mayor's Office of Management and Budget (OMB), a Public Policy Fellow at the Citizens Budget Commission, and directed national policy work at the New York City Gay and Lesbian Anti-Violence Project. While at OMB, Chai was given a Volunteer Service Award for creating OMB's first Employee Resource Group (ERG) for LGBTQ and ally staff, was the lead analyst on the City’s nonprofit indirect cost rate initiative, as well as the City’s Child Abuse Prevention “Model Budget” project. Chai is currently working on his law degree in CUNY Law School’s part-time evening program. He obtained his MPA as a David Bohnett fellow and Point Scholar, the national LGBTQ scholarship fund, at New York University's Wagner School of Public Service. Chai also holds a BFA from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.


Sonali Jhurani | Development Director

Sonali Jhurani joined Nonprofit New York as the Development Director in April 2022. She comes to us from WomenRising, where she served as the Director of Fund Development for the 117-year-old human services nonprofit and state-designated Domestic Violence Service Provider for Hudson County. Prior to WomenRising, Sonali was the Membership Director for the New York City Hospitality Alliance, a progressive trade association founded in 2012, for nearly seven years. During her time at The Alliance, Sonali dedicated her efforts to building out a united community of 2000+ members that benefitted from advocacy, education and other vital resources. Sonali holds a B.A. in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations from California State University, Fullerton.

Lakimja Mattocks joined Nonprofit New York as the Chief Programs Officer in January 2020 before becoming Chief Equity & Learning Officer. Lakimja comes to us from Support Center, where she was the Associate Director of Strategic Partnerships and Learning. At Support Center, she was in charge of overseeing the Professional Development portfolio which included their public workshops, customized trainings, Leadership Certificate Programs and Leadership Collaborative Cohort. Prior to joining the Support Center, Lakimja spent ten years in youth and staff development with a focus on youth leadership through service learning, college preparedness and access, work readiness, situational leadership and coaching. She possesses a Master’s in Public Administration with a focus in Non Profit Management from Baruch College, loves to volunteer in the area of College Access and holds Alumni Leadership roles with her beloved alma mater, Temple University.


Darby Masland | Programs Manager

Darby Masland joined Nonprofit New York as Programs Manager in October 2021.  Prior to joining, Darby worked in education as a Peer Collaborative Teacher and Advisory Coordinator for the NYC Department of Education. She cares deeply about public education and continues to engage in learning and advocacy as an Instructional Coach for Stanford University’s Hollyhock Fellowship Program, where she works with teachers across the country to improve teacher retention rates and build community. Darby holds a B.A. in History from University of Maryland and a M.A. in the Teaching of Social Studies from Columbia University Teachers College.


Devon Stein | Acting Programs Director

Devon Stein joined Nonprofit New York as Programs Coordinator in March 2020 and became Acting Programs Director in May 2022. At the start of her work in the nonprofit sector, she completed a term as an AmeriCorps VISTA at The Center for the Integration and Advancement of New Americans (CIANA) and continued her impact-driven work as a Research Assistant in higher education policy at MDRC and later as Fundraising Associate at Koszyn & Company. At Nonprofit New York, Devon has supported capacity building programs, member services, and events, and as Acting Programs Director, looks forward to expanding Nonprofit New York’s internal and external growth while continuing to provide for member needs across the sector. Devon holds a B.A. in Comparative Literature from Rutgers University and is pursuing her MBA at Baruch College's Zicklin School of Business.
