World Connect is recruiting a Project Coordinator to pilot an initiative in NYC that will apply its approach to catalytic seed funding (grants) of social enterprise in NYC. The NYC Project Coordinator will identify the optimal sourcing partners around the city, lead on all due diligence processes, set up and manage the grantmaking in NYC, and track the results and impact of the grants. This position will require extensive travel throughout NYC.

This will be a consulting position for the first three months of planning to conduct a landscape analysis to identify and determine the most viable opportunities for this programming in New York City. Based on the outcomes, this role can convert to a full-time NYC-based position. This position can work remotely but must be based in NYC metro region.  


  • Conduct a landscape analysis of current catalytic social enterprise grantmaking throughout NYC to identify areas of innovation potential
  • Establish a sourcing network throughout NYC that can help identify proximate leaders and organizations for funding
  • Identify and structure optimal grantmaking conditions to enable creativity and flexibility for selected grantees
  • Adapt current global grantmaking tools and systems to the NYC context
  • Manage the calls for proposals, due diligence, and award distribution in partnership with World Connect’s global office
  • Provide ongoing and responsive support to grantee partners, including leading all convening and training activities, and oversee the monitoring system
  • Produce reports on progress and impact for donors and for other external use


The NYC Project Coordinator will be committed to social justice progress in NYC, willing and able to work with a variety of colleagues and community members to pioneer new innovations in social enterprise, and dedicated to seeing the power of catalytic funding. Specific skills required:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Deep familiarity with NYC, including at least five years’ experience working in one or more of the following fields: health, social services, social justice, civic education, community organizing, or another related field required
  • Availability to travel extensively throughout NYC required  
  • Strong budgeting and project management skills required
  • Excellent analytical skills, strong writing skills, strong computer skills, excellent time management and interpersonal communication skills all required
  • Experienced, efficient and organized in online and remote work
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Google suite, and ability to learn new technologies and software quickly, including bespoke solutions


For the three month consultant planning contract, which is expected to be a full-time assignment, World Connect is considering a range of $15,000 to $20,000, depending on experience. If the position converts to a full-time role, the annual salary range would be $75,000 – $85,000 including a comprehensive benefits package.
