Westchester Parks Foundation engages the public to advocate for and invest in the preservation, conservation, use, and enjoyment of the 18,000 acres of parks, trails, and open spaces within the Westchester County Parks system. Since 2006, Westchester Parks Foundation has operated the Camp Morty sleep-away camp, a quality outdoor residential camp experience for children residing in underserved communities in Westchester County. 


The Camper Recruitment Manager is an integral part of the camp office team, and is responsible for the intake, screening, and management of camper information. 


Under supervision of the Camp Director, the Camp Recruitment Manager will manage the recruitment and retention of the campers through active outreach and coordination with our partner agencies including the Westchester Department of Social Services, Department of Community and Mental Health, and Westchester Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department. 






      • Camper Recruitment

        • Manage recruitment and retention of campers. This includes actively recruiting campers in group homes, schools and communities throughout Westchester County that work with the county’s underserved and foster youth.

        • Maintain communication with caseworkers, agencies, and programs that refer their clients to Camp Morty in an effort to strengthen inter-agency relationships.

        • Plan and lead multiple camper recruitment events in Westchester County to encourage and assist with registration.

      • Camper Enrollment

        • Assist Directors with staff employment records to ensure payroll and health department compliance.

        • Oversee registration process for Camp Morty including managing our online camp registration software, entering paperwork, collecting forms, ensuring eligibility of campers, parent follow-up, etc. 

        • Work with campers’ guardians, doctor’s offices and Department of Social Services to ensure camper applications are complete and children are able to attend camp.

      • Additional duties as assigned



      • Continue above work in enrollment

      • Work full-time in office to provide consistent communication with families

      • Manage and train summer office staff

        • Office staff will assist with day to day operations including phone calls, emails, paperwork management etc.

      • Manage weekly camper data including attendance, transportation options, contact information et al.

      • Assist nursing staff in managing camper health data

      • Work with campers’ caregivers to help them to prepare their children for camp.

      • Keep open communication with our contact at the Department of Social Services re: camp logistics and data.

      • Maintain our camper database including corrections and clean up.

      • Provide directing team and WPF administrative team with metrics at end of season






      • Professional Experience

        • 1-3 years of administrative and customer service experience;

        • Experience with in the input and maintenance of database records;

        • Demonstrated passion for and understanding of the mission of Camp Morty.

        • Comfort in presenting information to varying audiences;

        • Compassion and discretion in dealing with children and families from diverse backgrounds;

        • Excellent communication skills; 

        • Ability to present well and interact with all levels of staff and partner agencies;

        • High level of integrity in dealing with confidential and sensitive information.

      • Ability to work flexible hours, including some evening and weekend requirements during the summer.




Stipend position. $20,000-$25,000/year depending on experience. Schedule will include some weekends and evening requirements and bi-weekly meetings (hybrid model) January – May. Candidates must work on-site while camp is in session (June, July & August) 9am – 5pm.  Subject to annual review and evaluation by the Executive Director and Personnel Committee of the Board of Trustees. Probationary period of no less than three (3) months and ending after no more than six (6) months upon successful completion. There are no benefits provided with this position.
