Urban Green Council, a non-profit organization working to advance sustainability in the urban built environment, has an excellent opportunity for a motivated communications professional who is passionate about contributing to the green building movement.
Urban Green Council’s mission is to transform buildings for a sustainable future in NYC and around the world. We help develop cutting-edge policy, we educate a broad range of professionals, and we research solutions that drive policy and best practices nationally and globally. The Communications Associate will play a critical role in supporting these efforts.
The ideal candidate cares deeply about sustainability issues and is excited about making our digital communications and user experience stand out. This position reports to the Associate Director of Communications.
Manage weekly e-newsletter development and distribution, including scheduling and editing regular blog posts.
Develop and design graphics including flyers, event programs, posters, web banners, PowerPoint presentations, and other materials that support programmatic and fundraising efforts.
Assist with conceptualization, copy editing, and design of reports.
Curate and schedule content for Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
Serve as day-to-day project manager for key departmental materials, such as the Annual Report, quarterly Board Reports, and informational brochures.
Manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced work environment.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Marketing, Communications, Journalism/Writing, and/or related field.
Experience in Adobe Photoshop and InDesign.
Demonstrated writing and editing skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Desire to learn nonprofit communications strategies and management, including developing marketing campaigns around sustainability issues.
Desire to learn more about and help advance the sustainability movement.
Experience with social media platform management, both creating content and analyzing trends and performance.
Experience with back-end website management.
Some database experience, preferably Salesforce.
Experience implementing email campaigns, including the ability to edit and update an HTML template.
