 Student Leadership Network (SL Network) supports young people from diverse underserved communities to access educational opportunities that prepare them to lead successful lives. SL Network powers three programs: The Young Women’s Leadership Schools (TYWLS), a high-performing network of all-girls public schools, College Bound Initiative (CBI), a school-based guidance program for young women and men, and Young Women’s Leadership Network (YWLN), a network of national affiliate girls’ schools modeled after our central TYWLS schools. SL Network is seeking a Senior Manager of Whole Girl Education and Teacher Development to design, implement, and deliver impactful professional development, rooted in YWLN’s framework for Whole Girl Education, for the teachers and administrators of the TYWLS schools as well as YWLN’s national Affiliates.    The Senior Manager will provide TYWLS and YWLN teachers with a range of professional development opportunities throughout the year, including but not limited to, an annual PD day for TYWLS schools and a biennial convening of YWLN Affiliate schools.   Further, the Senior Manager, in collaboration with the Director of Research and Innovation, will design and implement new initiatives and programs to introduce, expand, and or deepen Whole Girl Education practices at new partner schools nationwide, expanding the scope and impact of SL Network support of schools serving underserved communities and students of color.  The Senior Manager reports to the Director of Research and Innovation and collaborates with the other Managers and Directors on the Girls Education National Team.   Some days in TYWLS schools, and some travel to our national Affiliate schools will be required. 

 Requirements

  Primary Roles and Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

 TYWLS & YWLN Professional Development

  •  Design and facilitate professional development workshops, series, initiatives, conferences, and convenings for the TYWLS schools and YWLN Affiliate schools.   Including, but not limited to, an annual PD day for the TYWLS schools, and a biennial YWLN Affiliate convening.
  •  Lead a team of TYWLS teachers in envisioning, planning, and implementing professional development opportunities for TYWLS faculty.
  •  Establish and coordinate professional development opportunities for teachers and administrators provided by organizations outside SL Network.
  •  Support the Directors in evaluation and data collection of local and national professional development

 Whole Girl Education & National Expansion

  •  Design and facilitate new initiatives and programs to leverage the TYWLS model and Whole Girl Education practices to support partner schools nationwide. 
  •  Contribute to the creation and development of Whole Girl Education resources, including a library of exemplars modeling the implementation of Whole Girl practices in the TYWLS and YWLN Affiliate schools. 
  •  Engage in ongoing research and professional development related to current and relevant literature, trends, and research in Girls Education, with a particular focus on culturally sustaining pedagogy and restorative and healing-responsive practices.
  • Support the Directors in evaluation and data collection regarding expansion work.

 Other

  •  Other team responsibilities as required, e.g. leading team meetings on a rotating schedule, providing board meeting updates, leading sessions at all-staff meetings, supporting student events, etc.

 Key Qualifications & Experience 

  •  A demonstrated passion for expanding educational opportunities for girls from historically marginalized groups and belief in Student Leadership Network’s mission
  • Minimum of 4 years of teaching experience in a school serving underserved communities, preferred
  • Knowledge of effective practices in girls education and experience teaching adolescent girls of color
  • Experience implementing culturally sustaining, restorative and healing-responsive practices with students
  • Master’s degree in education, teaching, or related field, from an accredited 4-year college or university
  • Experience developing and facilitating professional development workshops for teachers 
  • Superlative planning, organizational and writing skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders (e.g. principals, teachers, partners, funders, etc.)
  • Teamwork, collegiality, and a joyful approach to the work is required
