Saint Ann’s School is seeking Associate Teachers beginning with the 2023-24 school year for our Preschool through 3rd grade students.

Saint Ann’s is among the largest and most selective independent schools in New York City, known for the breadth and depth of its curriculum in academic disciplines and the visual and performing arts. Since its founding in 1965, Saint Ann’s has embraced a commitment to education for its own sake, oriented to the capacities of each individual student, free of the encumbrances of formal grading, prizes, and rankings. The lives of our graduates speak powerfully to the potential of an education based on these principles to ignite a love of learning and sustain creative energy in every field of endeavor. We accomplish this by bringing together talented teachers with creative and motivated students. Seeking to create a community rooted in trust and equity, we invite each other to take risks, pursue knowledge, and celebrate growth. Saint Ann’s is committed to centering anti-racism in the life of the school.

In preschool through third grade, Associate Teachers work with Head Teachers in classrooms of twenty students. In addition to helping their head teacher to run the classroom (leading

Associate Teachers are responsible for their own reading group and have the opportunity in the spring to design and teach a curriculum of their choosing. Associate Teachers gather notes and observations on all students that are shared in parent teacher conferences and anecdotal reports. In the Kindergarten and Lower School, Associate Teachers write two reports of their own. We seek the curious, the artistic, the passionate. We offer generous grants for educational assistance (up to $10,000/year). Teaching experience is not necessary, but experience working with children is a plus. We are eager to meet candidates who love children and the written word.
