Rescuing Leftover Cuisine (RLC) is a nonprofit organization committed to fighting food insecurity and preventing wasted food. We have cultivated a network of dedicated food rescuers who bring food directly from our donors to nonprofit recipients who serve people facing food insecurities, letting neighbors help neighbors while reaping the environmental and economic benefits of reduced food waste. Founded in 2013, our simple, tech-driven model has saved over 11 million pounds of food from landfill with a strong growth rate year over year.

Our organization is looking for a Development (Fundraising) Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to increase donations and support from individuals, foundations, and corporations. Reporting to the Development and Corporate Engagement Director, the Development (Fundraising) Manager will develop and maintain New York City-based corporate and foundation relationships and their corresponding grant opportunities. Key Responsibilities 

The Development (Fundraising) Manager’s essential duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Identify, research, and qualify potential corporate and foundation donors and grant opportunities that align with our mission and goals.

  • Effectively manage the Associate Board, including coordinating meetings, facilitating communication, and fostering a collaborative environment to drive engagement and maximize the board’s impact.

  • Develop and implement cultivation and solicitation strategies for existing and prospective donors, including outreach, meetings, presentations, proposals, and follow-up.

  • Write compelling and accurate grant proposals and reports that showcase our impact and outcomes.

  • Maintain accurate and timely donor records and databases, including tracking deadlines, submissions, acknowledgments, and reporting requirements.

  • Assist with executing fundraising events and campaigns, including logistics, communications, and acknowledgments.

  • Collaborate with program staff to collect data, stories, and feedback to support fundraising efforts.

  • Support the development director with other tasks as needed.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.

  • At least two years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, preferably in corporate and foundation relations and grant writing.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences and formats.

  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and evaluate potential funding sources and opportunities.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, CRM software, and online fundraising platforms.

  • Detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
