NYDIS is a 501(c)(3) faith-based federation of faith communities, human services providers, and charitable organizations that work in partnership to provide disaster readiness, response, and recovery services to New York City.

NYDIS is seeking a full-time Director of Operations, with immediate availability. The Director of Operations will work from our Midtown Manhattan office and report to the Executive Director & CEO. The Director of Operations will have overall responsibility for managing all aspects of NYDIS’ different federal, state, and city contracts, as well as grant-funded programs. The Director of Operations will also provide oversight of human resources and office operations.

Duties include:
• Senior advisor and force-multiplier to the Executive Director & CEO
• In collaboration with the Executive Director design, implement, execute and close out all programs and or contracts/grants, including accessing deliverables and completing all required reporting
• Provide day-to-day program oversight – ensuring peak performance, deliverables/outcome, fiscal, and contract targets are met within specified deadlines and, when necessary
• When activated, manage field operations and response and/or recovery staff/volunteers
• Collaborate with finance staff in the development of budgets and budget monitoring or reporting
• Research and write grant proposals in adherence with NYDIS strategic plan
• Provide oversight of preparation and submission of all program grants or contract RFPs
• Collaborate with Executive Director to supervise and mentor Program Managers & Communications Staff
• Review, as needed, social media posts and communication materials
• Manage the creation of communication materials, presentations, and reports
• Coordinate with Executive Director in leading program/support staff team meetings
• Collaborate with Executive Director to create and nurture effective internal and external communications
• Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with national, regional, and local organizations
• Represent the Executive Director and/or NYDIS at external meetings, conferences, and public events

Qualifications Include:
• Highly organized and detail-oriented
• Intuitive and trustworthy who doesn’t need to be the center of attention but shares expertise with humility
• Strong interest in inter- and multi-faith work within the human services sector
• Disaster and public health emergency recovery experience preferred
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills – in person, in writing, and on the phone
• Positive energy and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse staff
• Embraces and exemplifies the values of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
• Computer skills – proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, databases, and the internet
• All applicants will be given a detailed background check and narcotics drug test prior to employment
• Any NYDIS staff who work in our office or directly with clients must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19

Education and/or Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required, Masters Degree preferred
• 3-5 years experience in program management, communications, or grant writing
