Encore provides a comprehensive array of programs for older New Yorkers including supportive and affordable housing, home delivered and sit down meals, case assistance, education, recreation, and friendly visiting. The organization takes a “no wrong door approach” to ensure Seniors are able to access all of their neighborhood and other entitled resources so they may age in place comfortably for as long as possible. Encore is at an exciting inflection point in its development. The organization is working to build off of a rich history to deepen its services and scale the work of giving back to seniors. Encore is keenly aware that the demographics of Older New Yorkers is rapidly evolving. Therefore, Encore must also evolve to ensure the health, mental health, and economic stability of New York’s diverse and vibrant senior community.

About Position: Encore Community Services is seeking an experienced, skilled and passionate Senior Grants Manager with excellent writing skills to join our “small but mighty,” fast-paced core team. The candidate must be committed to helping achieve rapid year-over-year growth. The Senior Grants Manager will primarily lead the grant processincluding grants prospecting, writing, and relationship management and will assist in departmental fundraising activities, including, but not limited to individual donor cultivation, special events including the annual gala, and prospect research. This role reports to the Senior Director of Development. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

 

Job Responsibilities:

Grants: 

• Identify, research and pursue prospective funding opportunities and maintain all current grants.

• Drive the department’s grant program: o Write, develop and prepare foundation and corporation grant proposals and reports for general operating, program, reserve, and endowmentfunds;

          o In conjunction with the Sr. Development Director and Executive Team, create strategies and concepts for        each grant funding opportunity;

          o Manage the annual grants/reports calendar to ensure smooth, timely workflow and meet all deadlines;

          o Help develop, and then maintain records for, annual income actuals vs. projections and program budgets;

          o Assist in the development and assembly of all relevant component materials, including budget, and ensure that each submission complies with the proposal parameters and detailed requirements of each funder;

          o Help steward and acknowledge all grantors/potential grantors;

          o Collaborate across departments to gather and include relevant information and data into each proposal or report;

          o Assist in the process of the Development Department integrating government grants responsibilities;

          o Track grants and grantors in the database system thoroughly and in a timely manner.

 

Individual Donors:

• Assist the Sr. Development Director in obtaining and cultivating the network of donors, including prospect research;

• Work closely with the Sr. Development Director to administrate appeals by generating lists, with donor history, for each member of the Board of Directors to guide their personal outreach;

• Assist with outreach as requested;

• Work in tandem with Marketing & Communications to create any needed presentation/solicitation pieces;

• Help maintain a robust donor database system. Annual Gala & Special Events:

• Assist with the process leading up to and following the Annual Gala, including, but not limited to ticket sales, sponsorship research/proposals/outreach, honoree relations, and oversight of the reception;

• Assist with smaller-scale fundraising events, including developing solicitation strategy, identifying target attendance audience, tracking RSVPs and staffing.

 

Administrative Support to Development Department:

• Database entry and report generation;

• Document scanning and sharing;

• Tracking invoice receipts and payments;

• General Organizational Responsibilities:

• Actively participate in Encore’s day-to-day culture by spending time in at the Older Adult Center and other programmatic locations;

• Participate in inter-departmental team meetings;

• Participate as a member of Encore’s Management Team and contribute regularly by providing input and support implementation of organization-wide initiatives;

• Other duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in development with understanding of nonprofit fundraising, grant writing, administrative processes and procedures, standard accounting practices, and database use;

• Demonstrated success in prospecting, and securing foundation and corporate grants;

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to proofread and draft highquality narratives;

• Excellent organizational and management skills, excel at setting and managing realistic deadlines, detailed-oriented, dedicated to completing projects in a timely manner, comfortable working in fast-paced situations and ability to work with several departments in meeting deadlines

• Excellent at follow up and stewardship;

• Self-starter with sound protocol judgment; • Proven critical-thinker and problem-solver, flexible and resourceful;

• Ability to multitask;

• Proficient in MS Office

• Knowledge of Donor Perfect & Donor Search;

• Ability to work independently in a virtual office environment, be willing travel to Bronx and surrounding NYC boroughs often for meetings and special events;

• Connection/knowledge to Aging Services a plus

 

Strongly Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with NYS & NYC.GOV Procurement Process and NYC MOCS & PASSPORT
