ECPAT-USA seeks a strategic and innovative Director of Finance to lead and manage the organization’s finances. Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Finance is responsible for financial planning and oversight for ECPAT-USA. This position will work closely with the CEO, all Program Directors, and the Director of Operations to support the organization’s financial needs. The ideal candidate is an experienced finance professional with a track record of overseeing a growing nonprofit’s budgets, reporting, and investment strategy. 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

  • Oversee the financial strategic planning of ECPAT-USA by evaluating its performance and potential risks

     

 

  • Perform regular financial analysis and prepare detailed reports 

     

 

  • Work with ECPAT-USA’s Finance Committee to develop the annual organization budget

     

 

  • Work with directors to develop annual department budgets

     

 

  • Work with the Director of Operations on monthly financial reconciliations and developing financial policies and procedures based on best practices

     

 

  • Prepare financial reports for funders including, but not limited to, grants from foundations, the federal government, and corporate partners  

     

 

  • Supervise all audit and internal control processes

     

 

  • Guarantee compliance with financial laws and guidelines

     

 

  • Recognize patterns in organization spending and revenue and recommend solutions to any problem areas

     

 

  • Coordinate with external financial entities on behalf of the company

     

 

  • Implement financial processes, controls, and operating procedures (I added this as this person can assess the gaps and implement procedures accordingly)

     

 

  • Prepare budget vs. actual monthly and year-to-date reports for all departments  including detailed backup

     

 

  • Manage financial accountability for organization grants, including tracking receipts and expenditures from all funding sources

     

 

  • Manage organizational cash flow forecasting to assess the financial efficacy of program operations and establish finance and administrative systems to support operations

     

 

  • Other duties as necessary

     

 

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications: 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or relevant field

     

 

  • 7+ years of relevant experience

     

 

  • Strong managerial and organizational skills

     

 

  • Strong planning abilities with especially strong attention to detail

     

 

  • Excellent communication skills

     

 

  • In depth knowledge of accounting software, including QuickBooks Online, non-profit principals, and financial analysis 

     

 

  • Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial and growing environment

     

 

  • Passion for ECPAT-USA’s mission to prevent child sex trafficking and exploitation

     

 

  • Full-time, will consider part-time applicants

     

 

  • This is a hybrid work position

     

 

  • Located in New York City, Washington DC, or Houston 

     

 

Compensation and Benefits: The annual salary range is $75,000 to $90,000 commensurate with experience and geographic location. Benefits include employer-covered medical insurance and the option to contribute to a 401(k) plan, 20 days of paid time off, 5 days of paid sick leave, 11 paid federal holidays, and the day after Thanksgiving,  provided annually.
