CBC seeks an experienced development professional to be its Acting Senior Development and Board Relations Associate while the incumbent is on maternity leave. The selected candidate will be the senior staff member, working as part of the executive team and with our Board Development Consultant, for Trustee relations, recruitment and retention; and event planning and management, including online and future in person events, and starting to plan next year’s signature Dinner.

(Acting; 5-6 month position)

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Recruiting and retaining Trustees and New Leaders, CBC’s early career professional group.
  • Managing communications with Trustees and prospective Trustees, and their offices.
  • Conducting research on individuals and firms to identify potential Trustees.
  • Working with executive team and board development consultant to plan and execute external events, including the Annual Dinner.
  • Maintain donor database/CRM.
  • Soliciting, collecting, and tracking all contributions, including Trustee dues, Annual Dinner commitments, and general contributions.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and attend as requested, meetings, events, and conference calls for executive staff and Trustees.
  • Managing communications for CBC’s Research Committees, including but not limited to meeting memos and minutes.
  • Regularly update and maintain paper and digital materials and files.

Requirements:

  • 4 years of development experience in nonprofit, civic, or policy organizations.
  • Experience developing relationships with senior executives in private firms and nonprofit organizations.
  • Extremely organized and detailed oriented.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, or similar platforms.
  • Collaborative team spirit with capability to work independently.
  • Interest in and knowledge of New York City/State government, public policy, and the policy and business community preferred
  • Ability to execute multiple projects simultaneously.
