Beat the Streets New York (BTSNY), established in 2006, is a sport-based youth development organization whose mission is to develop the full human and athletic potential of urban youth and to strengthen the wrestling culture within New York City. BTSNY works with an average of 2,500 male and female student-athletes in all five boroughs, aged 10-18. Programs include the Academy, the Junior League, and the Training Center. In addition, BTSNY has a partnership with the NYC Department of Education’s Public Schools Athletic League (PSAL) wrestling programs.
Summary: Reporting to and in partnership with the Senior Director of Operations and Finance and Executive Director, the Director of Development is responsible for leading all of BTSNY’s fundraising initiatives including campaigns, events, donor prospecting and cultivation, solicitations, tracking and reporting donations, grant applications and stewardship activities.
Key Responsibilities:

Create the annual fundraising plan

Manage the donor database, Raiser’s Edge, and oversee staff responsible for data entry

Solicit financial support and gift-in-kind contributions from individuals, corporations and foundations

Collaborate with BTSNY’s grant writer to apply for grant funding

Manage donor acknowledgments and oversee staff responsible for executing

Collaborate with the Manager of Communications, Marketing and Special Events on the creation of marketing and solicitation materials

Plan and execute fundraising events

Compile and analyze information about potential donors

Develop and implement solicitation campaigns

Create internal and external donation reports

Schedule meetings for Executive Director with potential donors and attend when necessary

Follow BTSNY’s mission of developing the full human and athletic potential of urban youth and strengthening the wrestling culture within New York City
Minimum qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or equivalent experience in fundraising (8 years) preferred

Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

Effective time management

Prioritize effectively with high-level confidentiality

Ability to work effectively with multiple individuals and manage several projects at once

Proficient in Raiser’s Edge, Classy and Blackbaud
