The Senior Manager, Content Marketing will help plan, create, manage, and measure high-quality content across all of our digital and offline communications channels. The Senior Manager will also lead tracking and reporting efforts in order to support the organization’s data-driven goals, especially as it pertains to marketing campaigns and initiatives. 

 

Working closely with key partners across the organization, this individual will conceive, plan, orchestrate, and execute our content marketing efforts. Key to this role will be organizational skills as they will be managing programs and deliverables across multiple campaigns, often simultaneously. The role will also spearhead and lead efforts around content performance measurement and reporting, and leadership in ensuring on-time, on-target delivery of assets. In addition, the successful candidate will be an exceptional writer and editor capable of producing content and supporting other marketing team members in content development and execution.  

 

Responsibilities:

Content development & strategy:

  • Build and execute content strategies that support and amplify our short- and long-term marketing initiatives and campaigns

  • Develop a comprehensive content strategy across multiple platforms, including the company website and social media channels

  • Provide thought partnership to other teams in developing content and campaign strategies

  • Develop and manage a wide variety of content to support programs across multiple channels

    • Evaluate all content and provide recommendations to improve accessibility

    • Work with freelance writers and consultants in completing creative projects

  • Maximize the value and reach of content by turning assets into a library of derivative pieces for use in multiple channels

  • Create and maintain a streamlined content calendar that keeps the whole team on track

  • Create and distribute monthly e-newsletter; collaborate with Marketing team members on improving overall email marketing performance

  • Manage the website by supporting the creation of fresh content, making timely updates, and collaborating with Digital Marketing Manager and web development firm(s) to ensure SL Network’s website is a premier destination to educate users about our brand

  • Supervise Digital Marketing Manager and collaborate to define a strategy that continues to grow our following across social media

  • Create, maintain and track custom landing pages, forms, and surveys

  • Build and implement SEO strategy in tandem with Director of Marketing & Communications

  • Stay on top of content marketing trends and bring new ideas to explore and test

 

Marketing operations:

  • Develop department and org-wide standards, processes, and tools to drive greater efficiencies in how we develop content and utilize marketing tools across teams; Produce training materials and documentation to support adoption of tools and processes

  • Evaluate and implement new technology as it pertains to Marketing

  • Measure and report on content and campaign performance, and assess against goals/KPIs; present findings to relevant stakeholders

  • Implement and optimize use of Google Analytics and search tools; Track website traffic/usage activity and recommend any adjustments

  • Identify trends and insights, and optimize spend and performance based on insights

  • Act as primary administrator of Canto, SL Network’s media library, and oversee ongoing maintenance (e.g., adding metadata, reviewing uploaded files, managing users and groups, and ensuring third-party connections function properly)

 

Qualifications and Core Competencies

 Key Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4 years experience in a communications, marketing, development or fundraising role with strong writing requirements

  • Excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills

  • Expertise in using SEO best practices to write creative copy that includes effective keyword placement

  • Highly computer literate and advanced knowledge of HTML and popular content management systems, especially WordPress

  • Highly creative with experience identifying target audiences and developing creative marketing campaigns across all platforms that inspire, educate, and motivate

  • Solid knowledge of website analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, NetInsight, Omniture, WebTrends)

  • Salesforce, Hubspot, InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator experience is a strong plus

  • Strong interpersonal and management skills, along with efficiency, vision, and sense of humor

  • Should be a team player, entrepreneurial, curious, and passionate about education and youth opportunities to change the world.   

 

Skills and Core Competencies:

  • Experience with databases, web-based tools, CRM/CMS, and analytics tools

  • Experience with social media management

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills across all dimensions (written, verbal)

  • Work well under pressure in a professional and positive manner with different teams

  • Skills in developing, building, and maintaining a brand with key stakeholder groups, preferably in both corporate and nonprofit and/or public policy settings

  • Strong organizational skills with ability to create and enhance systems and processes

  • Ability to manage aggressive deadlines, maintaining meticulous attention to detail and follow-through

  • Ability to distill complex organizational information to convincing and engaging copy

  • Ability to write quickly in a variety of voices and formats

  • Basic graphic design skills strongly preferred

 

Compensation: The annual salary range for this role is $76,320 – $93,493, commensurate with skills and experience.
