About JQY

JQY (Jewish Queer Youth) is a nonprofit organization supporting and empowering LGBTQ youth in the Jewish community, with a special focus on teens and young adults from Orthodox, Chasidic, and Sephardi/Mizrahi homes. JQY fights to ensure the emotional and physical health and safety of this population. Our goal is for all these individuals to know: You are a valued member of the Jewish community and you are not alone.

About JQY Culture

We prioritize brainstorming, big ideas, and experimenting with new things along with making sure that we have the time, energy, and resources to execute on them. We are at a pivotal moment in our growth including being the recipient of a recent $1 million gift for national expansion. At this crucial time in JQY’s evolution, we are looking for a stellar team member to contribute to our powerful forward momentum, shape our organizational culture, and increase our impact.

About the Role

The JQY Psychologist will serve as a direct clinical resource for our most at-risk youth participants. In addition to triaging new and existing members for follow-up support, the JQY Psychologist will also offer weekly one-on-one counseling services. The role includes facilitating weekly group work “closeup conversations” and serving as a clinical consultant for our Drop-in and crisis management programming. This position will be integrated into our training and supervision initiatives with the hope that the JQY Psychologist will help lead school and mental health professional trainings and run supervision groups for other therapists in the field who may be treating LGBTQ youth clients. As JQY is at a pivotal point in transformation and growing rapidly, the JQY Psychologist will help create and shape JQY’s new clinical department, with the opportunity to eventually advance to a directorial position. While this is a full-time job, hours can be flexible with preference given to candidates who are available weeknights and Sundays. This position is based in Midtown Manhattan and reports to the Clinical Director. The JQY team currently consists of an Executive Director, Clinical Director, an Operations Associate, and a number of part-time social workers and admins. The JQY Psychologist will have access to private consultation rooms at our WeWork location, as well as a desk in our team office.
