 POSITION SUMMARY

 The Chief Financial Officer is a member of the Leadership Team and oversees all fiscal operations for CPC and its subsidiary organizations. The CFO is responsible for developing and executing the financial strategy in support of the organization’s vision and mission. The CFO will ensure that CPC’s fiscal policies are implemented, the overall budget of CPC and its subsidiaries are monitored and followed, as well as the financial obligations of all subsidiaries and programs are met. The CFO builds CPC’s capacity to manage its finances as the parent organization and subsidiary organizations grow in size and complexity. The CFO focuses on creating the budgets for CPC and subsidiaries, analyzing financial statements, and planning to meet the future financial needs of the organization and subsidiaries.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Organizational Leadership

·       Serve as a Chief Financial Officer of CPC and as Corporate Treasurer of subsidiaries, being involved with strategic planning, program expansion, and evaluation

·       Work with the President & CEO to develop, oversee, evaluate, and improve the fiscal management of CPC and subsidiaries

·       Partner with the CPC Board of Directors, Finance Committee, and Audit Committee on fiscal oversight and planning

·       Coordinate with CPC Leadership Team on fiscal oversight, budgeting, compliance, and contracts/grants management

Fiscal Leadership

·       Bring a strategic, high-level perspective to CPC’s fiscal management which entails producing financial statements, overseeing compliance with government contracts and grants, and managing accounts receivable and payables

·       Supervise, manage, and evaluate Fiscal staff, delegating responsibilities and providing for cross-training and professional development where needed

·       Provide fiscal analysis and strategy for special projects and program expansion

·       Work with President & CEO, Board Members, and other stakeholders, if any, to oversee investment strategy

·       Represent CPC at conferences, events, meetings, and other engagements

 Subsidiaries

·       Partner with Board of Directors and Leadership Team of subsidiary organizations on fiscal oversight and planning

·       Meet regularly with Board Treasurers and fiscal teams of subsidiaries

·       Ensure alignment of fiscal procedures and reporting across subsidiaries

·       Oversee fiscal consolidation for Board Meetings and annual audits

·       Monitor and track emerging fiscal matters and work with Leadership Team and fiscal staff to ensure appropriate follow-up and execution

·       Manage annual audit process and coordinate with fiscal teams on responses to findings and recommendations

·       Monitor fiscal agreements and intercompany transfers/payments/loans between parent organization and subsidiary organizations

Financial Management

·       Oversee financial and accounting operations, including general accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, internal loan and exchange accounts, and accounting systems and databases used

·       Review and approve preparation and finalization of monthly and annual financial reporting materials for Board of Directors, including narrative, balance sheet, income statement, cash flow, and consolidated financials for Board Meetings

·       Work with independent auditors to prepare, review, and approve financial reports to funding sources as well as annual audited report, tax returns, and other government reports

·       Oversee financial forecasting and cash management, including banking transactions, cash flow, lines of credit, loans, project financing, and investments

·       Oversee budgeting, including preparing the annual budget, analyzing the financial feasibility of current and new programs, and preparing budget variances for President & CEO and Board of Directors

·       Establish internal control procedures, including monitoring compliance, remaining up-to- date on regulations and laws, and developing policies, procedures, and documentation for staff

 QUALIFICATIONS

·       Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance required. CPA strongly preferred.

·       Minimum five years of leadership experience as CFO, controller, finance officer, or relevant role in nonprofit organizations.

·       Minimum five years of experience with nonprofit leadership, financial management, and staff supervision.

·       Experience with human services, home care, and affordable housing.

·       Experience with federal, state, and city government contracts as well as foundation and corporate grants.

·       Experience in budget, audit, compliance, and resource development.

·       Successful leadership and management of fiscal functions, leading to organizational growth and impact.

·       Track record of optimizing fiscal processes and achieving productivity and efficiency improvements. Successful experience in financial systems re-engineering or conversions a plus.

·       Superior project and time management skills, and ability to meet deadlines effectively and consistently.

·       Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

·       Working knowledge of financial and accounting systems, as well as Sage Intacct, Excel, and QuickBooks.

·       Generally, this position will work from CPC headquarters (150 Elizabeth Street) 2-3 days/week, and remote work is possible due to the ongoing pandemic.
