Job Description  

Reporting directly to the President and CEO, the Executive Planning Manager   provides executive support in a working relationship focused on the mission of Goodwill: to empower people to gain independence through work.  The Executive Planning Manager   must be creative and enjoy working within large not-forprofit environment that is mission-based, results-driven and makes an impact. The ideal individual love data to tell a story, with strong power point, written and verbal communication, administrative, and organizational skills.  The candidate will know how to best use KPIs and drive to the Strategic Plan yet keep the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities. The Executive Planning Manager   will have the ability to work independently on projects, from conception to completion, and must be able to work under pressure at times to handle a wide variety of activities and confidential matters with discretion.  Interest in social justice, public policy, and/or social enterprise is preferred.  A high degree of aptitude, detail, self-initiative and regular management of changing priorities is required.    

  

  

Roles and Responsibilities  

  

Executive Strategic Management  

  • Management of the Strategic Plan, by following up with tasks, managing deliverables, creating Gantt charts and ensuring updated KPIs from all departments feed into the Strategic Plan. 

  • Enable the CEO to manage the operations by: 

  • Work closely with the CEO, EVP of Operations, CFO and other member of the leadership to conduct timely review of data to inform problem-solving and decision-making 

  • Create and manage project plans and timelines for deliverables, ensure execution and analysis for impact of new operation 

  • Ensure organization data collected is clean, accessible, and can be used to inform strategic discussions and decision making 

  • Build decks and reports from data, based on Strategic Plan and operations for board of Directors, external and internal audiences. 

 

  • Completes a broad variety of administrative tasks for the President & CEO including:   

  • Managing calendar   

  • Completing expense reports  

  • Composing and preparing correspondence   

  • Arranging travel plans, itineraries, and agendas  

  • Compiling documents for travel-related meetings  

  • Preparing records such as agendas, notices, minutes, and resolutions meetings.  

  • Provides a bridge for smooth communication between the President’s office and internal departments; demonstrating leadership to maintain credibility, trust and support with senior management staff including celebrations for organizational milestones and accomplishments. 

  • Completes first drafts for decks, reports, written communications to external stake holders and internal project management communication regarding dates and follow ups for deliverables due.   

  • Liaison with Goodwill Industries International, including reports and data requests , travel and conference participation. 

  • Manages CEO Board and committee memberships  

  

Board Support and Liaison  

  • Serves as the liaison to Board of Directors and the committees 

  • Schedules Board meetings and ensures bylaws are followed and updated as needed  

  • Provides advance distribution of materials before meetings with adequate time for review  

  • Takes, edits, confirms and distributes minutes of Board meetings within timeframes and ensures for in-person scheduling and refreshments for meeting 

  • Adheres to compliance with applicable rules and regulations set in bylaws regarding board and board committee matters  

  • Knows and gains expertise in Board governance, rules, and policies governing not-for-profit Boards  

  • Helps on-board new members and supports current members in by-laws and committee supports 

  • Manages organized compliance and regulatory documents from non-profit status, including all Board activities and updates. 

  

 

Experience and Education Requirements   

  • Bachelor’s degree required   

  • Strong work tenure with a minimum of five years of experience supporting C-Level Executives  

  • Research and evaluation experience creating decks / power points, decision memos, analysis of data and presentation of best course of action  

  • Previous work with Strategic Plans, Gantt Charts, PMP framework and the ability to create organized files for access by organization  

  • Proficient in Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point, Adobe Acrobat, and Social Media web platforms.   

  • Highly organized and enjoy using new technology tools for effective communication and feedback with internal and external  

  • Experience providing Board level support including, by-laws, Board compliance and trainings, and administration; minutes, schedules, materials  

  • Maintains discretion and confidentiality in relationships with all CEO and all Board members   

  

Salary Range: $45-68,000 depending on experience
