The Center for Anti-Violence Education (CAE) is a multi-cultural, anti-racist, intersectional feminist organization based in Brooklyn. We develop and implement comprehensive violence disruption programs to prevent, interrupt, and heal from violence. We focus on violence that stems from sexism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia and racism.

 

Position

CAE seeks to hire a full-time Operations Assistant who is highly organized, responsible, efficient, a good multi-tasker and detail-oriented.  CAE is housed in a small office and the Operations Assistant plays a critical role in helping to support the smooth functioning of the space and our operations, carrying out duties related to reception, admin, communications, website, technology, facilities and equipment.  This position also requires some physical lifting and moving of supplies and office equipment. The Operations Assistant will join a caring, committed and fun team of colleagues and report to the Executive Director.

 

Tasks & Responsibilities

The tasks below are intended to provide an example of responsibilities, not a finite list. Additional duties may be assigned by supervisor.

 

Reception

  •          Welcome visitors
  •          Field email requests
  •          Answer phones/voicemail

Admin

  •          Filing and data input
  •         Scheduling
  •         Distribute mail
  •         Manage petty cash, prepare bank deposits, generate reports for bookkeeper

Communications

  •         Send all staff email updates & reminders
  •          Maintain and update mailing lists
  •          Make general Website updates
  •          Assist social media efforts, such as mail chimp communications

Facilities

  •          Promote and handle space rentals
  •         Ensure the facilities are organized and compliant with safety  codes
  •          Coordinate with landlord and vendors for maintenance and repairs

Equipment & Technology

  •         Monitor and stock office supplies & materials
  •          Ensure furniture and equipment is in consistently good working order
  •         Troubleshoot glitches, including with technology
  •         Communicate with vendors/consultants for major repairs

 

Ideal Qualifications

· Minimum of two-years of experience in office/administrative setting, or comparable experience.

· Computer and database skills (including survey monkey, Microsoft office programs, Google apps suite, social media)

· Effective communication, writing and editing skills with attention to detail.

· Disciplined self-starter, collaborative team player, readiness to learn, ability to excel with little supervision.

· Ability to work well with people of diverse backgrounds and races, including LGBQ and TGNC communities

· Demonstrated commitment to social, economic, racial and gender justice.

· Bilingual Spanish/English

· Enthusiastic about learning and growing with the organization!

 

Salary & Benefits

Salary is $35,000 – $41,000, commensurate with experience. CAE offers a 403B retirement account and significant coverage for health, dental and vision insurance. We also provide a generous vacation and time-off policy.
