Bronxworks, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Financial Controller to join a dynamic and fast paced finance department. Primary responsibilities of the Assistant Financial Controllerr will be to provide strong support for the Financial Controller and that includes general accounting, financial audits and other matters as designated by the Controller. The successful candidate must have the ability to work both independently as well as be an integral member of the finance team.

 

Responsibilities:

 Primary responsibilities of the Assistant Financial Controller will include but not limited to:

  • Manage Workers Comp audits
  • Maintain central records of all In-kind donations
  • Verify and analyze Receivables reconciliations and Advances with recoupments
  • Perform monthly analysis and variance reporting on cost centers 105, 511 and 643 (Pool at 1130)
  • Reconcile all donations revenue with Development Dept monthly
  • Keep track of financial aspects of insurance claims, payments and related expenses
  • Manage invoicing, contracts and reporting on building and pool rentals 
  • Manage EDC invoicing and tracking receivables and payments
  • Work with Training Dept to help manage fiscal training for staff and participate in trainings as needed
  • Analyze contract data in Intacct regarding registered versus non-registered contracts, agency billings to date, overhead earned to date, etc….
  • Prepare dashboards and coordinate communication of dashboard information with Controller and CFO
  • Assist Controller in the annual budgeting and planning process; review all financial plans and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate.
  • Assist Controller in annual independent audits by preparing audit work papers and accounts analyses and reconciliations; assist in gathering information for and preparing financial statements with notes, Form 990/CHAR 500, Single Audit (A-133) Report and NYS CFR
  • Work with Internal Auditor on Funding Sources financial and program audits.
  • Serve as primary backup to the Payroll Manager and be able to process regular bi-weekly payroll in the absence of the Payroll Manager
  • Perform other duties as necessary and assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or finance
  • Must have solid knowledge and experience with non-profit accounting, fund accounting, compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Minimum 5 years accounting experience required
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products (e.g. Excel, Outlook, and Word)
  • Must have a strong interpersonal and communication skills and work effectively with personnel at all levels
  • Must be organized and detail oriented and demonstrate the ability to perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism; ability to prioritize and work under deadlines; strong analytical skills, with ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to climb five flights of stairs. 
  • Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
  • Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
  • Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather.

 

Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English language is required. Authorization to work in the United States for any employer is mandatory.
